Somatic support work is the intentional practice of noticing, exploring and expressing the internal state of our bodies through movement, voice, and awareness so that we may be free of long-standing patterns that perpetuate disconnection, disharmony and stuckness.
Somatic coaching is a long-term, individualized process. It works within the nervous system to release old patterning in order to restore our inherent worthiness, resilience and capacity.
You’re an adult who has the time and emotional space to work with yourself on this transformative journey. We move slow, we move deep. We are not here for quick fixes.
You have already started the process of self-inquiry, having worked with another therapist/coach/practitioner
You continue to experience the same patterns in your life and realize that more than a logical and/or psychological approach is required for sustainable, deep healing
You believe in possibility and are willing to stretch the limits of what you think you know, feel and desire.
You link your own healing to the collective healing required to create sustainable, collective communities of care. We heal here together, to generate collective healing for the planet.
At our most instinctual level, our body responds to the world around us by interpreting and responding to our reality as it occurs before us.
This “neuroception” sizes up and detects threats automatically, then employs whatever trauma response it senses will best serve to protect you. It might hyper-socialize, flight, fight or freeze, for instance.
For bodies that have experienced trauma, these emergency responses can be stored in the body even after the threat of violation has passed. This can interact with our perception of reality (neuroception), and can inform involuntary, unconscious responses in our lives. Often these responses create great suffering.
Somatic support works with the nervous system where these involuntary, unconscious responses live. Here, stress and stored emergency responses can be discharged in order to restore our neuroceptive capacity.
Specifically, through attuning to and moving the body in cooperation with these responses, space is created for new life force energy, empowered choice, deeper connection with self and others, and moving out of long-standing patterns that have felt impossible to change.
Somatic work supports increasing our resilience so we can meet the challenges in our homes and our careers with greater capacity.
Sessions will focus on developing body-based attunement and may include personalized meditation, grounding exercises, movement and dialogue. We move slow, deliberate and in consent so that your natural blueprint of health can guide the way.
I work with adults who are on their healing path and are ready to drop deeper into an embodied wellness, whatever form that may take.
I work with overwhelmed mothers looking for support around developing their inner work to show up calm, collected and resourced to the challenges of parenting.
I work with burnt-out caregivers, coaches and therapists to restore their capacity to work in better balance.
Somatic coaching is ideally a long-term process (6 months or more). We meet weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs.
Sessions are 75 mins and held on ZOOM. There is no support offered in between sessions aside from administrative support or the sending of resources as discussed in the session.
Somatic coaching is a complimentary support and not a replacement for clinical therapy, particularly for folks who are in crisis or working with complex PTSD. Unfortunately at this time, my services are not covered by most insurance policies.
Sessions are offered on a sliding scale between $150-250 depending on your own financial capacity and the space I have available per tier.
Fees are paid at the end of each session online via PayPal or e-transfer for Canadian clients.
It is of the utmost importance that you feel safe, grounded, and resourced because this is BIG WORK. Before I start with any client, we have a free consult to ensure we’re the right fit. If we aren’t, I’ll do my best to match you with a more appropriate practitioner.
The consult call is a time for us to get to know one another and for you to ask any questions.
